Summer

Time flies.

It felt like it was just yesterday that I was sitting at the airport in Jeju Island waiting to fly to Japan. The whole time that I was traveling in South Korea and Japan, I was impatiently waiting to finish the trip so that I could fly to São Paulo. Why? Because I’ve never been to South America. However, I have not ever visited S. Korea and Japan before neither. I spent about 8 days in S. Korea and then 6 days in Japan. Overall, it was an experience. I got to meet new friends, have a reunion with old ones, eat a variety of food, experience different cultures, and learn new languages.

But I couldn’t stop thinking about Brazil. In my heart, I knew that I would have a hell of a better time there. I was looking forward to eating coxinhas for the first time, listening to Brazilians speak Portuguese, experience the culture and people, observe the architectures there, and spend time with my partner.

Unfortunately, I ran into a lot of trouble for my returning flight from Brazil to the U.S. I had to rebook my returning tickets about 4 times. The first and second time because of Hurricane Irma. The third time was due to Hurricane Jose. The fourth time was a result of Hurricane Maria. However, while I was flying back to my first layover in Michigan, we had to fly around Hurricane Maria three to four hours into the flight. The turbulence did not bother me that much. I’m very thankful to be safe and alive as a result of rebooking my returning flight tickets several times after many hours on the phone with customer service.

I’m pretty tired these days. Super jet lagged, drinking a lot of coffee to stay awake, working through my things, struggling with personal issues, and trying to keep my head up while staying humble.

I’m looking forward to December. It’s my favorite month of the year. It’s cold, there’s Christmas in the Park, and I’ll finally have a bit of a small break. I hope there’s at least a little warmth and happiness in store for everyone around me.

Someone close passed away recently. I hope you’re watching over us and seeing how much we’ve grown and will grow. I hope you’re in the heavens dancing, singing, and telling good jokes. I hope you give us your blessings. I hope you are finally at peace and happy with where you are. Thank you for all of your sacrifices. Thank you for all of your hard work. We know you are still with us.

And to my love, I know you are strong. I know you are great. I know that you will make things happen because when you put in work the world will conspire to make it happen. I know you will achieve your dreams. Please hang on tight and don’t give up. Don’t let the non-believers sway you into thinking that you’re not enough or dreaming too big. You’ve got this. I believe in you, I support you, and I love you. Thank you for coming into my life and turning everything 180 degrees around. You are one of the greatest blessings in my life. Don’t you ever forget that. I love you the most.
